Slow Food, founded in 1986, is an international organization whose aim is to protect the pleasures of the table from the homogenization of modern fast food and life. Though a variety of initiatives it promotes gastronomic culture, develops taste education, conserves agricultural biodiversity and protects traditional foods at risk of extinction. Matariki Midyear Celebration

Slow Food members saw in the Matariki last night with vegetarian feasting, warmth & conviviality. ( and a touch of 🏈).

There was homemade savory seed crackers, fruit pastes, delicious local cheeses:

freshly picked spinach, feta and free range egg pie, a kumara bake, roasted cauli & chickpea tastiness:

and the crowning glory, vegan chocolate mousse desserts accompanied by curd on a homemade cookie. mmm mmm.
