Slow Food, founded in 1986, is an international organization whose aim is to protect the pleasures of the table from the homogenization of modern fast food and life. Though a variety of initiatives it promotes gastronomic culture, develops taste education, conserves agricultural biodiversity and protects traditional foods at risk of extinction. Almost Free Event - Slow Honey Harvest Feb 18th 2017

It's honey harvest time!

Saturday February 18th - 9am start, 12.30pm sausage sizzle and lunch. 

Get the low down on bees and honey! 

Come along and see how the honey is extracted from the Auckland Beekeepers Club hives, spun in the Unitec kitchens and bottled. 

Please bring a gold coin donation, a plate to share and a blanket or camp chair to sit on to eat your lunch. 

(Use entrance 2 from Carrington Road (it is clearly signposted). Enter the apiary through the gates beside the pedestrian crossing just past the Mason Clinic. 

Parking is available on the grass by the apiary. In winter it may be too boggy to park on the grass so you will need to park on the roadside and walk in.). Warning: there will be live bees present! :)
