On December 10 the global network of Slow Food and Terra Madre comes together to celebrate Terra Madre Day and promote local food.

Where: Oratia Farmers Market, 99 Parrs Cross Road, Oratia, Auckland.

Meeting and greeting, and photos at 11:00 am, at the TM delegates Karlene & Terry Shaw-Toomey’s stall (Earthbound Honey).

Lunch at Artisan Vineyard Restaurant (next to the Farmers Market)

Making sugar flowers, slowly



On Tuesday morning a few Slow food Waitakere ladies met for a convivial cup of tea, and to make sugar roses and flowers together. It was lovely to take time to make food together, while talking around the table. Thank you to all who attended.

Slow Food Waitakere Workshop: Making Fondant Roses and Flowers

Spend a morning learning how to make yourself beautiful fondant roses and flowers to decorate your cakes, cupcakes and petit fours. Perfect for edible Christmas presents and special occasions, these flowers can be stored and will lasts for weeks. You don’t need any previous experience in sugar craft. Coffee and tea will be served. Please bring a container to take home your creations. Limited to 6 participants so book early.

Date: 22 November 2011, 10am-12pm
