Carlo Petrini speaking at the Turin Book Fair, May 2010

I have recently met Carlo Petrini at the Salone Internazionale del Libro, Torino, where he was a guest speaker. The first session was the presentation of the La Bibliotheca Gastronomica by Slow Food Editore and Franco Cosimo Panini Editore.

The second session was in the larger arena of the book fair section dedicated to young people (I sat with a group of senior high school hospitality students), and was about sustainable development, with the participation of Colin Beavan, better known as the guy who's family attempted to live a zero impact lifestyle in New York City in the film
No Impact Man.

The last session was about the collaboration between Lingua Madre, the national literary and cultural contest for immigrant women leaving in Italy, and Terra Madre. The collaboration aims at consolidating relationships between countries as well as creating sustainable development while preserving and respecting traditional lifestyles.
